August 07, 2025 – Big Update on English Language Tests for Australian Visas
The Department of Home Affairs (DHA), Australia has rolled out major changes in the accepted English language tests for visa applications. These updates officially came into effect on August 7, 2025.
If you appeared for your English test on or before August 6, 2025, your result will still be valid — but only within the standard validity period (usually 3 years, depending on your visa type).
New List of Accepted English Language Tests for Australian Visas
The following tests will now be accepted by the DHA:
- Cambridge C1 Advanced Test (C1 Advanced)
- Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program General (CELPIP General)
- International English Language Testing System Academic (IELTS Academic), including One Skill Retake (OSR)
- International English Language Testing System General Training (IELTS General Training), including One Skill Retake (OSR)
- LANGUAGECERT Academic Test (LANGUAGECERT Academic)
- Michigan English Test (MET), including Single Section Retake (SSR)
- Occupational English Test (OET)
- Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic)
- Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-Based Test (TOEFL iBT)
