Skills in Demand Visa
Most Subclass 482 Skills in Demand visa applications are processed within 7–60 days depending on the stream and occupation.
The Subclass 482 Skills in Demand (SID) visa replaced the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa on 7 December 2024. It is an employer-sponsored visa that allows Australian businesses to fill skills gaps by hiring overseas workers. The SID visa has three streams: Core Skills (occupations on the Core Skills Occupation List / CSOL), Specialist Skills (highly paid specialists earning above AUD $141,210/year), and Labour Agreement (bespoke arrangements). All streams grant a 4-year visa with a direct pathway to permanent residence via the Subclass 186. Employers pay the Skilling Australians Fund (SAF) levy as part of the nomination.
