Indian nationals transiting through New Zealand (typically via Auckland International Airport) en route to a third country require a New Zealand Transit Visa. The visa permits transit for up to 24 hours. Always verify your specific itinerary requirements at immigration.govt.nz before travel.
Be an Indian national transiting through a New Zealand airport en route to a third country.
Hold a confirmed onward flight ticket to the final destination.
Hold a valid visa for the destination country if one is required.
Not intend to remain in New Zealand beyond the permitted transit period (maximum 24 hours).
Be in good health and have acceptable character.
Verify at immigration.govt.nz whether your specific itinerary requires a Transit Visa. Indian nationals generally require one when clearing NZ immigration.
Apply online at apply.immigration.govt.nz or at a VFS Global VAC in India. Apply at least 2–3 weeks before travel.
Upload all required documents and pay NZD 235 by credit or debit card online.
If approved, you receive a Transit eVisa by email. Save or print a copy to present at the NZ border on arrival.
