Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply for a New Zealand visa from India?

Applications are submitted online through Immigration New Zealand's portal at apply.immigration.govt.nz, or in person at a VFS Global Visa Application Centre (VAC) in India (locations in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, and Chandigarh).

What is the International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL)?

The IVL is a non-refundable levy of NZD 100 per person, payable alongside most visitor, student, and some work visa applications. It funds conservation and tourism infrastructure in New Zealand.

What changed in police clearance requirements for Indian visa applicants?

From 1 December 2025, Immigration New Zealand only accepts police clearance certificates issued by a Regional Passport Office of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs. Certificates from other sources are not accepted.

Is proof of funds required for a New Zealand visa?

Yes. Most visa categories require proof of sufficient funds. For visitor visas, a minimum of NZD 1,000 per month (or NZD 400/month with prepaid accommodation) is typically required. Student visas require proof of NZD 20,000 for a full year of living expenses.
